The Loch Ness Monster of Kootenay Lake

In my last post I showed you photos of the family of otters on the lake. Well, after they left the wharf, I thought that they would disappear in the waves and rain. Oh yes, did I mention it was rainy, windy and generally yucky weather while I was photographing them? Last time I got them it was in the middle of winter. Never in summer. Oh well, at least in cloudy weather the light is generally good. Although it was a little dark for my liking.
Anyway, they didn’t disappear but played in the waves for a few minutes. I followed them along the shore, moving quickly when they were under water and then freezing when they surfaced. As if they didn’t know I was following them! That’s like saying a bear didn’t know I was across the river from it.
When I got home and looked at the photos I realized that some of them looked like a serpent from the way they were rollicking above and below the water. So,, once again, here are the otters, doing what they otter do (sorry about that!) and looking like the Loch Ness monster in some of the shots.

They weren’t there today, but who knows, maybe tomorrow. Or the next day…..
