Some photographs provide inspiration ‘simply’ because of their subject. Others provide inspiration from the fact that I was able to capture it technically as well as being in the right place at the right time.
Today’s inspiring photographs were, once again, a chance encounter, a one in a million. And capturing them well was the icing on the cake. To me, photographs like these get me up in the morning and out day in and day out (almost).
I shot these two mergansers in flight as I was taking a break from photographing an osprey in a tree!

What decided me was the space separating the birds.

I liked the way the wings of the birds seem to merge with the wings in the reflection. That probably gets my vote.

Thank you. This type of shot, in flight mergansers, has been on my bucket list forever. Needless to say getting two of them close to the lake surface was the icing on the cake.
