I was out working in the garden earlier this week, when this ‘creep’ sauntered into view. Obligingly it awaited my return with my camera and let me take some shots. I am pleased to report, it headed off in one piece, protesting vociferously that ‘creepiness is in the eye of the beholder’. I think it was in a bit of a huff.

can’t say that I’ve had the honour of meeting one before! 🙂 giant tarantulas and giant scorpions, yes, but no wolf spiders!

I don’t like either of your acquaintances. It’s probably a nursery web spider, I believe. I hope anyway. I’m not certain that the wolf spider has got this far north. I try not to get that close to them and spiders are extremely difficult to identify.

I held them under “controlled circumstances” … i.e. the handlers were there, too. I also had the chance to wear a 10-foot boa constrictor at the same event. 🙂

The boa I like! I’ve held one that was being taken for a walk on a sunny day. Not that long but really neat. As you might guess, I like snakes.

we had big burly men at that event, and they were absolutely TERRIFIED to hold the boa for just a few seconds. I found it quite absurd, because we women (especially small ones like me!) had no such reservations!! 🙂

So many people think they are cold and wet. They love warmth, feel warm and are very dry.

I know! 🙂 When I was fifteen, I got to hold a 30-foot boa constrictor in Singapore (along with three other people). my first thought was that they were so clean and dry! (unlike worms!) 🙂
