The Colours of Spring, Part 1

There is no denying that the hooded merganser is not only a fairly elusive bird but also very dramatic. At least the male!

But the common merganser, to me, is just as spectacular! Every time I photograph the male I am amazed by the intensity of the colour of its plumage, and feet.

And not to be outdone, the wood duck is positively mind blowing! I was thrilled to find these two pairs in the same marsh as the hooded mergansers!

These are some of the colours of spring in my special marsh.
